Dr. Winkler obtained her medical degree from the University of Notre Dame in Sydney, graduating with a distinction. She acquired her Fellowship from the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2017, comprising a number of specialist rotations including spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury and intellectual disability. She is a member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand, and was on the Board of Directors from 2022-2024.

Ann is a highly regarded consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician with an expertise in stroke and the management of spasticity using botulinum toxin injections. She has been employed with NSW Health for over 12 years, including Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney where she was the lead clinician of the spasticity service, and more recently at Maclean District Hospital. She is also credentialled at St. Vincent's Private Hospital in Lismore, and she delivers a telehealth stroke-rehabilitation service to Echuca Hospital in regional Victoria to support patients living rurally.

She values the importance of ongoing education, and has completed a Masters of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) at the University of Sydney, as well as an Associate Fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (AFRACMA). She has been a Conjoint Lecturer at the UNSW Faculty of Medicine and Health, and an AFRM (RACP) accredited supervisor and long case assessor.

Prior to medicine, Ann had a career in fitness and continues to enjoy leading an active and healthy lifestyle. She has relocated her young family to Northern NSW and is invested in improving health outcomes for those living regionally.
